Specialist Radiographer (MRI & X-ray)

An exciting opportunity as arisen at Chapel Allerton Hospital for an enthusiastic and experienced Radiographer to join our specialist MSK Radiology team on a 6-month secondment.

Chapel Allerton Hospital is a nationally acclaimed tertiary centre for musculoskeletal research. We provide specialist services in Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Dermatology and Neuro Rehabilitation to the people of Leeds and beyond.

The Radiology department supports out-patient, inpatient, and theatre services, in addition to the adult GP X-ray walk-in service.

We host 3 newly installed Siemens Ysio X-pree X-ray Rooms; A pioneering Siemens Multitom Rax combined X-ray/ Fluoro/ Cone beam CT system; and a Siemens Sola 1.5T MRI scanner.

The role would suit Radiographers who are keen to learn, and happy working in a busy environment with considerable responsibility placed upon individuals to make imaging decisions in often complex cases. We would welcome applicants with no MRI experience, as full training will be provided. The successful candidate will be expected to cover shifts in all specialty areas including MRI.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will operate as a senior member of the Radiography team, using initiative, knowledge and leadership skills to provide an efficient and high-quality imaging service.

There is an expectation to participate in the newly developed, Radiology Band 6 Mentoring Scheme

Principal responsibilities will include:

Providing support and training for junior staff

Supporting the Team manager by carrying out additional operational and managerial duties

Demonstrate appropriate leadership behaviours, expected at Band 6 level

Work autonomously in all aspects of musculoskeletal MRI and general X-ray (training will be provided)

Participating in the out-of-hours on-call rota.

To show initiative in being able to provide solutions to service delivery problems, in unforeseen circumstances, using the available resources effectively to promote smooth delivery of service/patient care.

To communicate negotiated changes to staff rosters to appropriate staff.

To organise personal and departmental workload in line with clinical priorities.

To show initiative, adapt and quickly respond to changes in service, patient or departmental need.

To assist in the vetting of MRI referrals and the completion of examination request safety checks

To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with medical, nursing and other professional colleagues to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary service
