The Department of Blood Sciences is seeking to recruit a Quality Team Supervisor to help support, deliver and improve the service we provide to our patients. This is an exciting time to join one of the largest Pathology departments in the country, and in advance of moving to our new 'Centre for Laboratory Medicine' building (on the St. Jamess University Hospital site) and new Acute Hospital Laboratory (on the Leeds General Infirmary site) in spring 2025.
As a Quality Team Supervisor you will ensure the delivery of the Quality Management System in a robust and consistent manner by co-ordinating the activities of the departmental quality team. This team supports audits, risk assessments and service improvement activities within the department. The team is also supporting the various Building the Leeds Way projects which the department is involved in.
Ideally you will have experience of quality related activities such as risk assessments and auditing. You will have excellent IT skills and able to collate and manipulate data efficiently to ensure that the health of the quality management system is under continual and robust review. You will be involved in other IT activities such as updating websites and coordinating activities of our QPulse system.
You will have a passion for service improvement and be an excellent communicator. Previous experience in an administrative or supervisory role would be advantageous, as would experience in training others, and of QPulse/Datix. However, full training will be provided.
You will be able to work flexibly in this role to ensure that all tasks are completed on time and to the required standard. We encourage all candidates to contact us to discuss the role, offering laboratory visits for interested candidates. Please contact: Helen Pritchett, Acting Pathology Quality Lead: h.pritchett@nhs.net
Our Pathology services operate across two large university teaching hospitals in the Leeds Metropolitan area with a population of around 2.3 million and provide services both regionally and nationally. In addition to the new laboratory projects, we are also working to deploy a West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) regional LIMS, and a new Managed Pathology Service Contract. Construction on the new Leeds Children's Hospital is also about to start, which will include all in-patient maternity and specialist neonatal services to become the largest single site maternity centre in the UK.
The successful candidate will be well supported by the wider scientific and clinical teams. The Blood Sciences Department is accredited to ISO15189 and by the IBMS as a training laboratory in both Clinical Biochemistry and Haematology.
