Forming part of the Outpatients Dental Nursing Team, the post holder will undertake a range of duties to support consultants and clinical teams (including Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Cleft Lip and Palate). This role will include activities such as: providing chair side assistance for patients (including sedation), attending theatre sessions preparing clinical records, radiographs, study models, organising and preparing equipment for clinics including equipment  sterilisation. The post holder should have good communication and organisational skills, an enthusiasm to work and flexibility to meet the needs of the service.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience is essential.  Sedation qualified and experience is desirable, Experience of working with children and adolescents Is desirable.  It is imperative to hold a National Examination Board Qualification/City & Guilds NVQ level 3 in Dental Nursing.

Main duties of the job

To effectively deliver fundamental Dental care to the patients, ensuring it is evidence based and maintained to a high standard, working in partnership with the patient and family. The Dental Nurse will act in liaison with and in support of the Consultants in Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery in their role of delivering high quality clinical services. The post may have a requirement to work within other Outpatient services if required.
