Public Health Assistants from the School Health Screening Team support the delivery of the Healthy Child programme as directed by local government. These activities include:
Activities are predominantly delivered within a school setting. Community venues are utilised during school holidays for children who are not enrolled within a school or to provide accessibility. As well as the delivery of screening programmes, Public Health Assistants may provide telephone support to families/carers to understand the screening results, and/or to identify other relevant routes of support and advice. They may also assist with other relevant school or community based health promotion events to support child/family health and wellbeing.

The Kent School Health service works with schools, parents and carers as well as other professionals like health visitors or community paediatricians to prevent ill health in children, families and the wider community, support safeguarding of children and young people and address any health needs to make sure every child reaches their potential. Young people do not have to be within school to access our support
