An exciting opportunity has arisen within the step 2 workforce for an experienced Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP).

Band 5 (upon qualifying), full time £32,073 - £39,043 per annum

The Stoke-on-Trent NHS Talking Therapies Service is a high performing and innovative Primary Care Talking Therapy Service. The service involves partnership arrangements between North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare (NSCHT), Midland Partnership Foundation Trust (MPFT), and the Third Sector. Our high performing team provides a range of effective evidence based treatments for people with common mental health problems in primary care, focusing on anxiety disorders and depression.

You will be employed by Changes Wellbeing Service but deliver therapy in a partnership arrangement with NSCHT and MPFT.

You will work within the service providing high volume low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to service clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. You will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.

Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self management of their recovery.

Undertake patient-centred interviews which identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.

Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, refers unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or steps-up the person’s treatment to high intensity psychological therapy.
