Job overview
We are seeking a Band 7 Psychological Midwife, fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with maternity multi‑disciplinary teams across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW), and in partnership with Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP), to provide specialist psychological support to women affected by birth‑related trauma and tocophobia.
As a senior specialist practitioner, the successful candidate will act as a clinical and professional lead for maternity services.
The role includes line management responsibilities, and will also be expected to participate in the maternity on‑call rota.
Main duties of the job
The Band 7 will work closely with the Matrons and Divisional Director of Family and Specialist Services regarding all quality performance.
- QUALITY WOMAN CENTRED CARE
- To complete screening and triage of women presenting with trauma symptoms and prepare and chair triage meetings with relevant professionals.
- To be responsible for providing consultation, advice, referral and treatment (within scope) for women with mild/moderate trauma symptoms as part of the maternal mental health pathway for women with birth trauma and tocophobia
- To provide personalised care based on each woman’s needs including support of personalised care and support plans, ensuring that these are updated in a timely way and communicated to relevant professionals ·
- TEAM WORK
- Ensuring the annual appraisal of all team members including assessment of performance and development of Personal Development Plans.
- Promoting interdisciplinary working with outcomes aimed at the best interests of women and cohesive service delivery.
