We require a flexible, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our amputee rehabilitation team, who will play a key role in the delivery of high quality treatment and care to patients.
To provide clinical, scientific and advisory services to patients for their rehabilitation by restoration, using prosthetics, within key areas of upper and lower limb amputation or deficiency due to a variety of causes including Congenital Deficiency, Diabetes, Orthopaedic, Vascular and Trauma cases.
You will undertake detailed assessments in conjunction with the Centre’s Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to enable personalised care plans, facilitating provision of clinically suitable, prosthetic limb prescriptions (clinical/technical) for amputees and patients with congenital limb absence.
You will be clinically responsible for the provision of treatment of patients under the supervision of Senior Prosthetists.
You will work within professional and Trust guidelines at all times and through informed consent and will ensure the best prosthetic treatment outcome for our patients within agreed resources.

To formulate design (prescription) of prostheses, selecting materials and components.
To manage own clinics, arranging appointments and times with patients and other members of MDT when appropriate and possible.
To maintain accurate and timely information on SMRC and Trust recognised systems.
To participate in audit, research, governance, complex case review, service improvement and SMRC/Trust mandatory training and meetings.

To ensure appropriate prescription and treatment is delivered based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patient needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards, evidence based guidelines and decision making.
To perform fitting and evaluation of prostheses including static and dynamic alignments and make adjustments where necessary to ensure fit, function, comfort and quality.
To maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within the scope of the role and professional practice.
To proactively engage with patients, relatives and carers to seek their views, gain consent and keep them informed about their treatment and care, communicating information effectively.
