The Women and Children’s Hospital Programme is looking to recruit an experienced and highly skilled Programme Manager to support the Programme Director in delivering a modern, “state of the art” and SMART environment in a new Women and Children’s Hospital on our main acute site in Truro.
RCHT is entering the next phase of our new Women and Children’s Hospital Programme as a Wave 1 scheme under the national New Hospital Programme. Our scheme is undergoing a refresh of the Outline Business Case (OBC) and will be ready to move into the Full Business Case (FBC) stage in spring 2026. The construction period for the new Women and Children’s Hospital has been allocated by the Government to be between 2027 and 2030 (with the first patient date in early 2031).
If you are educated to degree level, with significant capital projects and construction industry experience, and are ready to support the future of healthcare in Cornwall by bringing your initiative, energy, and programme management expertise to help lead the delivery of our new Women and Children’s Hospital, then this could be the role for you.

The Programme Manager, Women and Children’s Hospital, will be assisted by a developing programme team and will be required to focus on the delivery of both the enabling works schemes, and main build, through the Full Business Case (FBC) stage, into construction and beyond to completion and post programme evaluation. This is a long-term role which will suit someone looking to join a partly established programme delivery team; to work flexibly with RCHT and external partners to achieve the successful completion of a major capital healthcare project. Professional qualifications in programme management and business case development, as well as experience in managing large and complex stakeholder groups would be an advantage.
The post holder will be expected to work to current best practice programme management methodology, and to the internal RCHT governance framework; ensuring benefits are delivered within agreed timescales and within the budget set.
