Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to embark on a career within Pharmacy.  Successful completion of the 2 year training programme, and associated studies, will lead to registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.

Salary dependant on previous NHS service:

Candidates with no previous NHS service : AFC Band 4 Annex 21 - 70% top of a Band 4 in Year 1 rising to 75% in Year 2.

Candidates with continuous NHS service: Salary to be confirmed under the terms of Annex 30.

There may be an expectation for the successful candidate to work at any Trust site.

This is a 2-year Fixed term / Secondment, rotational training post working within each operational area of the Pharmacy department. Dependent on site, this may include Dispensing Services, Chemotherapy Services, Logistic Services and completing Medicines Management Services at ward level.

Main duties of the job

Entry requirements: 5 GCSEs at grades 4 - 9 including Maths, English language and 1 Science subject. For apprenticeships only – Must be aged 16 years or over, live in England and have eligible residency status with the right to work in England and not be enrolled onto another government funded programme.

The post holder will work alongside Pharmacy professionals as part of the team, providing an effective, patient focussed pharmacy service. Full training and support within the workplace, coupled with studying towards an accredited Level 3/4 qualification, will provide the necessary practical skills and knowledge to meet the initial education and training standards for Pharmacy Technicians, set by the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Under the supervision of a Pharmacy Technician and / or a Pharmacist, rotate through Pharmacy Dispensary services,  Chemotherapy services, Distribution services and work at ward level to provide Medicines Management services as required dependant on site.
