This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated & dedicated individual to undertake a 2-year fixed-term rotational pre-registration pharmacy technician training post with Devon Partnership NHS Trust & community Pharmacy, while receiving training & experience in both a mental health hospital setting & community pharmacy.

About the Role:

As a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician, you will be undertaking a structured, rotational training programme to gain the necessary skills & experience to register as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Over the course of this 2-year fixed-term apprenticeship, you will:

  • Spend approximately 1 day per week with a community pharmacy, gaining experience in the community pharmacy setting.
  • Spend the remaining time with Devon Partnership NHS Trust, working across Mental Health Wards.
  • Undertake both virtual guided learning provided by the training provider, alongside workplace training within the Trust & community pharmacy.
  • Gain exposure to various areas of pharmacy, including dispensing, clinical checks, medicines management, & patient safety within both community & mental health care environments.
  • Complete the necessary training & assessments to achieve the required qualifications to register as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop skills and knowledge in medicines management and clinical pharmacy practice across both community and mental health settings.
  • Participate in daily activities such as dispensing, checking medication, patient counselling, and inventory management.
  • Work as part of multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines for patients.
  • Complete guided learning modules and assessments as part of the apprenticeship programme.
  • Provide support and contribute to the continuous improvement of pharmacy services within both community Pharmacy and Devon Partnership NHS Trust.
