Job overview

The post holder will commence employment as a Trainee Pharmacy Technician (student / apprentice). They will be required to successfully meet set competencies designed to develop the qualities, skills and knowledge expected to register as a Pharmacy Technician.

The post holder will gain experience in various rotations such as clinical Pharmacy services including outpatient dispensary, daycare and paediatric patients at the Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre (RDCEC).

Participation will also be required in late duties and Saturdays on a rotational basis depending on service requirements.

Main duties of the job

Length of competency training will be dependent on what qualification / experience the staff member has achieved already but the following would be expected to be met within 24 months at the latest:

Successful completion of the Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) course. Accreditation as a Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) and Medicines Management (AIMM) qualification / Medicines Optimisation Program (MOP) Contribution to service development i.e. completion of either an audit, service evaluation, quality improvement project or development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will assist in the provision of a safe and efficient patient focused Pharmacy Service.

The post holder will be working in patient facing areas as part of the Pharmacy dispensary and clinical teams including the pharmacy stores and distribution sections of the Pharmacy on a rotational basis.
