Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician (Training post - Annex 21)
This post is a fixed term training contract of 24 months due to funding . The training post provides the opportunity to gain the required experience and qualification needed to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Salary: Initially Annex 21 Band 4 - 70%, progressing to 75% after 12 months.
The training programme is delivered by HEIW via a Welsh Government Apprenticeship.
Successful completion of the programme enables you to apply to the General Pharmaceutical Council for registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
The funded apprenticeship allows you to obtain the Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice while working in a hospital role. Some studying in your own time will be required.
Pharmacy Technicians develop a high level of expertise in relation to medicines and health and they work as part of healthcare teams in hospitals, manufacturing units, community pharmacies and GP practices. They focus on management and use of medicines to make sure all types of people get the best outcomes from their medication.
Please note all applicants must hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A*-C, including English, mathematics and at least one science subject. If you are selected for interview you will be expected to produce your exam certificates.

We are looking for forward thinking, enthusiastic, organised, and motivated individuals to join our dynamic and motivated Pharmacy team within Aneurin Bevan Health Board. We have training posts available at one of our general hospitals (Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport) and our critical care hospital (Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran).
These are busy hospitals that play a vital role in delivering our new model of health care.
The role of the Pharmacy Technician is varied, interesting and continuously developing, which is why we are offering the opportunity to explore this innovative role in a rotational training programme. You will gain experience in a hospital setting dispensing and checking medications, managing medication on wards and providing advice to patients. There will also be an opportunity to explore areas such as clinical trials, aseptic production, procurement, outpatient clinics and community response team.
