Job overview

The Child Health Psychology department at Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales are looking to recruit a practitioner psychologist to join the tertiary paediatric gastroenterology team. The post holder will work alongside and under the supervision of the current 8a Clinical Psychologist within the team.

This post will contribute towards the ongoing development of psychologically informed care for the gastroenterology patients and their families; providing expert professional and clinical services, multi-disciplinary work, consultation, liaison, research, teaching, training. There are likely to be opportunities to work closely with nursing and medical staff and other members of the Paediatric Gastroenterology multidisciplinary team. The post is 0.3WTE, 11.25 hours per week and will involve work in a medical specialty where highly specialist psychological skills and expertise will be valued.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an applicant with an intertest in working as a practitioner psychologist in paediatric medical/ health settings. This post would appeal to an enthusiastic and motivated person, who will enjoy the challenge of working  in a dynamic environment.

It is essential for the post holder to hold a Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent), and to be a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical/Counselling).

Whilst a demonstrable interest in, applying psychology in medical settings is desirable, we would welcome applications from those in other specialties who have an interest in further developing a career in child health psychology and can strongly demonstrate transferable skills.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
