This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 30 hours per week.

The Learning and Development Team support a range of structured training, education and professional development programmes for staff at all levels and staff working in other organisations and workplaces.

The Practice Education (collaborating with the Apprenticeship and Widening Participation Team) team manage all student and (healthcare programme) apprentice placements within the Trust and promote quality of patient care through the continuing education of all members of staff and students.

The practice education team indirectly support students providing direct support for practice supervisors and assessors and all other staff involved in learning and assessment in practice activities to develop quality assured placements for students.

The Practice Education Facilitator will  support  practice educators in practice, design and share educational resources, and (if appropriate) clinical skills and their expert knowledge. Engaging with Practice Educators to identify how students can be encouraged to embrace every opportunity to apply theory or evidence base to practice and interact with multi-disciplinary team members and service users / patients from a positive and informed position.

Main duties of the job

  • Co-ordinate and develop non-medical clinical placements across the organisation
  • Ensure compliance with the organisation’s and / or One Gloucestershire’s Learning and Development Agreement and other educational contracts
  • Ensure practice supervisors and practice assessors are developed to support non-medical learners in practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Ensure sufficient, suitably qualified practice supervisors and practice assessors are available to support practice learning and maintain and sustain an up to date data register for the organisation which reflects the needs of the learner numbers and placements
  • Work with academic colleagues from higher and further education providing training and practice support to ensure registered practitioners are supported to act as appropriate practice supervisors and practice assessors to non-medical clinical students
