The Practice Placement Facilitator supports high quality clinical learning environments across the organisation, ensuring students and learners have safe, effective, and well supervised placements.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of placements through audits, feedback mechanisms, and compliance with regulatory standards (NMC, HCPC, GMC, etc.).
Support clinical areas to implement action plans following quality reviews, student feedback, or regulatory recommendations.
Promote evidence based supervision models and ensure mentors, supervisors, and assessors are appropriately trained and supported.
Provide visible support to students and learners in practice, addressing concerns, supporting wellbeing, and escalating issues where required.
Offer guidance and training to practice supervisors and assessors, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and assessment requirements.
Facilitate induction, orientation, and ongoing support for learners across all placement areas.
Maintain accurate placement records, capacity data, and quality metrics to support governance processes.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
