The Practice Development Lead within the Wider Workforce Team is a proactive role-model and senior member of the Institute of Care Excellence faculty, who leads on practice development and the professional development of nursing/midwifery staff across NUH to ensure the successful delivery of the N&M Strategy.
As a key leadership role within the Institute of N&M Care Excellence, works to promote, establish and facilitate the delivery of the priority objectives of the Institute.
Provides leadership, advice and support, fostering a learning culture which values high quality patient care, evidence based practice, research and innovation.
Works in partnership with the Institute Clinical Leads/ Divisional senior nurses/ Matrons/ ward/department managers to ensure the delivery of the N&M Strategy and implementation of effective strategies to enhance staff satisfaction, staff engagement, improved staff retention and multi-disciplinary team working to achieve agreed, common goals/outcomes. Ensures the highest standards of education, research, and clinical care are in place and in collaboration with the trust and divisional senior nursing team implements,
The post holder will have line management responsibilities for the Wider Workforce Team. They will work closely with with the Senior Nurse for Practice Education and the Clinical Lead for Professional Development and Education, to deliver the wider workforce portfolio.
The PDL will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to corporate and divisional education leads, divisional nurses, senior midwifery leaders and practice supervisors and assessors. They will have a particular responsibility to liaise with HEI partners and clinical teams to appropriately share and make decisions on learner assessment and progression, particularly apprentices. The PDL will work with the ADN and the Clinical Lead to respond effectively to concerns and complaints about public protection and learner performance in learning environments.
They will support service improvement by responding to the learning needs of the individuals. The post holder will ensure the active involvement of education leads, senior nurses and midwives in the way practice learning and clinical support are developed, delivered and evaluated.
