This is a prestigious Fellowship post available in Foot and Ankle Surgery. This is an excellent opportunity within the Foot and Ankle unit at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The Foot and Ankle unit has four full time specialist consultants, Mr Rupinderbir Singh Deol, Mr Karanjeev Singh Johal, Mr Simon Mordecai and Mr Atef Hakmi.
This is 2 x fixed term appointments for 6 months based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage to commence from October 2025 and April 2026. The post is full time with no on call commitments. The post is not recognised for training and is designed to provide a platform for a post CCT surgeon to make the next step towards working as a consultant.
The Fellow will be exposed to and expected to participate in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery work closely with all the supervising consultants. There are regular weekly elective and trauma lists as well as exposure and participation with the diabetic foot MDT service. There is scope for parallel and independent operating lists and clinics depending on the progress of the fellow over the year.
The Fellow will be actively involved in research and audit and will be responsible for running the MDT meeting. They will be expected to participate in the department’s research program and would be supported in initiating original research. The fellow should aim to publish two peer reviewed publications over the year. The fellow will be supported in these activities with dedicated sessions for research and access to the research nurse.
The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations and teachings. Although, this post is not recognised for training the appointee will be encouraged in their training and development within the role.
