Commitment to paediatric cardiology service provision, including paediatric cardiology rapid assessment clinics is also an integral part of the post. It is expected that by the end of the one year post the successful candidate will be in a position to apply for a consultant position.

  • To develop subspecialty skills in fetal cardiology •    To provide a service commitment in Paediatric Cardiology and be involved in all aspects of the department. •    To provide clinical support, together with other registrars, to the consultants in paediatric cardiology and fetal cardiology as well as perform independent outpatient clinic duties. •    To participate in all clinical activities including multidisciplinary meetings across all sites with the objective of ensuring a high standard of patient care. •    To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.   •    To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinical: The focus of this post is to develop subspecialty clinical skills in fetal cardiology. The postholder will also be expected to undertake a mixed range of duties at senior registrar level (under the supervision of one of the consultants). The postholder will care for inpatients and out-patients both within the department and at outreach clinics.
