The appointment is to commence 4th August 2027 for a fixed term period of 12 months. FRCS(T+O) or equivalent is essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. This post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.
The Cavendish Arthroplasty Fellowship is specifically designed for a Senior Trainee with FRCS (T+O) who has already resolved to specialise in some aspects of lower limb arthroplasty surgery.
These posts are aimed at Post CCT trainees who want fellowship experience in hip and knee arthroplasty: primary and revision surgery. There are two posts available.
The clinical aspects, research and other duties undertaken will be directed by Mr Simon Buckley, Professor Mark Wilkinson, Mr Andrew Gordon, Mr Tim Harrison, Mr Saif Salih, Mr James Shelton, Mr Mike Petrie and Mr Anil Dhadwal who have responsibility for the clinical management of adult hip and knee surgical conditions in Sheffield and Dr David Patridge for microbiology.
Candidates for this post will be expected to demonstrate a confirmed interest in some branch of lower limb arthroplasty surgery. The appointment will be at post CCT level.
The Fellow is expected to attend up to three all day operating lists per week, attend out-patient clinics and take a lead role with the ward management of in-patients.
