Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a proactive and enthusiastic PBS practitioner to be part of our Intensive Positive Behavioural Support (iPBS) team for children with learning disabilities and/or a diagnosis of autism presenting with complex and severe behaviours of concern. You will be part of a warm and welcoming team comprising psychology, speech and language, occupational therapy and child development advisors who work intensively to provide holistic and person centred support for children and young people and their families and systems of support. You will be skilled and knowledgeable in the key principles of PBS and keen to reduce restrictive practices and promote quality of life.

Main duties of the job

  • Understanding behaviours that challenge as a communication of unmet need and supporting family and staff networks to work within an attachment informed Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) framework and create clear and consistently implemented PBS plans
  • Using an intensive approach to work with young people to build fundamental skills in communicating and interacting with the world
  • Promoting Quality of Life and supporting young people to be an active part of their local community
