We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join South Manchester Podiatry Service as a Podiatry Assistant. You will assist the Podiatrist in a range of clinical settings including assisting with management of high risk patients who may have complex wounds, assisting in nail surgery clinics, You will also be responsible for the management and treatment of your own patient caseload of vulnerable patients both in clinic and in the community (in patients own home).
We are looking for an individual who can work autonomously and as part of the wider podiatry team. In return we will offer support and full training to undertake the role for the successful candidate.
Post holder will be required to travel between community settings access to a car is essential
Providing foot health, nail care and education to caseload of patients in our community clinics or in the domiciliary setting. You will be able to work in clinic both independently and is part of the team.
You will be provided with training in order to provide foot care, routine nail care and gain an understanding of common nail disorders, foot related pathologies and anatomy to identify when to refer onward to the podiatry colleagues.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent manual dexterity skills, to carry out routine nail care safely to caseload at risk patients with foot conditions.
You will be required to support procurement processes with the service to ensure clinical stock and sterile instrumentation is maintained
Each week your role will require supporting our podiatrists by assisting with minor surgical interventions (nail surgery).
You will receive training on an electronic patient record keeping system which means adhering to service use records policy on our clinical system (EMIS). This will include relevant administration support of any care you provide and to communicate with other health professionals and colleagues.
