We are looking for people who are interested becoming a Podiatrist to begin the journey with us as a Podiatry Apprentice.
This role is a 3 year course where you will complete 1 day a week distanced learning with Plymouth University, 1 day a week work based learning with our Podiatry Team and 3 days a week working within the Podiatry team as a Podiatry Assistant embedding and using the skills you learn during the degree apprenticeship.

We have a very knowledgeable and experienced team who are leaders nationally and are pivotal in ensuring that their knowledge and support is shared with the team. The department with our active research team are regularly involved in audit activity to shape the future of our services which we would actively encourage you to become involved in.
We want to invest in you by offering you mentorship, enabling you to fine tune your clinical skills which will help you to develop into the dynamic Podiatrist you want to be.

If successful you will be joining one of our localities within HIOWH Podiatry Mainland team. During your assistant role you will have your own foot care clinics in both domiciliary and community clinic setting, you will also support our specialist services (Nail surgery, 'At risk foot' community clinics and biomechanics)
The Podiatry Apprentice will support the delivery of safe, patient centred foot care for people with vulnerable limbs, often linked to chronic or long term conditions. Working across community clinics and patients' homes, the post holder will undertake delegated assessments, care planning, health education and routine foot care under the supervision of qualified Podiatrists.
The role supports integration across community and specialist pathways by contributing to face to face triage, promoting safe self care, escalating concerns appropriately and working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team. The apprentice will also assist with complex wound care, pressure offloading, insole manufacture and nail surgery support.
Alongside clinical duties, the post holder will participate in the Podiatry Apprenticeship Programme, combining academic study with supervised practice.
This blended approach aims to develop the knowledge and skills required for the BSc (Hons) Podiatry degree while contributing to improved patient outcomes and effective community podiatry services.
