Job overview

We have one post at 32.5hrs and one post at 34 hrs which can be worked over 4-5days per week

An excellent opportunity has arisen for to join the medicine physiotherapy teams working in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.  There are two positions available, one at University Hospital Llandough, and a second based at St David's Hospital and Barry Hospital (to work one day per week at Barry Hospital), Cardiff.  Both posts are a minimum of 4 days, but the hours can be negotiated between 4 and 5 days.

As part of the physiotherapy team  you will be supporting the  delivery of rehabilitation programmes to patients within an inpatient setting.

The successful applicants will need to demonstrate an interest in rehabilitation. Excellent communication skills are key and it is important that you  are a team player with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and ability to learn and develop new skills. Previous experience in rehabilitation in the hospital setting would be advantageous.  The job role will include supervision of some activities of daily living, supervision exercise programmes with patients and there are also some aspects of personal care.

A full and comprehensive training programme will be available.

Main duties of the job

Principally to provide a service, under the direction of a registered practitioner, to the individuals within a defined area. They will work with direction to assist the registered practitioner in clinical and administrative duties following specific competency-based training. They will independently carry out routine treatment programmes to both individuals and groups which have been delegated by a registered practitioner. They will progress within guidelines laid down by the registered practitioner. They will be responsible and accountable for these tasks.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
