Job summary

We are recruiting for a full time Band 4 physiotherapy associate practitioner position within the community pulmonary rehabilitation team. This is a temporary secondment opportunity for applicants with the relevant experience of deliver pulmonary rehab at a B3 level. The role is based across multiple sites, covering a very wide geographical area.

This is an opportunity for career progression for an applicant who holds the relevant skills to apply. You will work alongside Physiotherapy staff and the wider MDT Acute, community and primary care MDT and your development will be supported by senior staff working within these areas. Outstanding organisation and communication skills are required in order to support with the assessment and rehabilitation of often complex respiratory patients with multiple comorbidities.

The successful applicant will receive training and support to achieve their competencies in patient assessment, treatment approach/progression and discharge planning.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of the wider pulmonary rehabilitation team to provide outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation to clients in a range of community settings across a very wide

geographical area within CDDFT.

The successful applicant will work independently or under supervision and as part of the team to provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment to clients with often complex respiratory conditions who may be extremely disabled/dependent with life limiting conditions. They will carry out exercise testing, muscle testing, take and interpret patients observations including BP and O2 sats. They will assess psychological wellbeing as well as social and smoking status assessments. They will be required to supervise more junior staff and students and assist in the training of junior B5 staff. They will also carry out administration tasks to support the service. They will input data for the purposes of local and national audits as well as contributing to the award and maintenance of PRSAS accreditation

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
