Job summary

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of the wider physiotherapy team at Bishop Auckland Hospital, providing inpatient rehabilitation across a range of clinical areas including frailty, rehabilitation, elective orthopaedics, and stroke. The post includes a 7-day working requirement in line with service delivery needs.

The role involves working both independently and as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver physiotherapy assessment and treatment to inpatients across relevant wards. This includes close working with physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and other members of the MDT, alongside completion of administrative tasks to support the effective running of the service.

As part of the inpatient physiotherapy service, the post holder will support physiotherapists by implementing agreed treatment plans and, where appropriate, independently delivering interventions within their scope of practice.

Patients will present with a wide range of conditions and rehabilitation needs. Physiotherapy interventions will include the provision of walking aids, mobility practice, and strength and functional rehabilitation, with the overarching aim of supporting patients to return.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
