An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 4 Physiotherapy assistant practitioner (0.8 WTE) to join the Adult Cystic Fibrosis team. We are based at The Wolfson CF Centre at the City Hospital campus of Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. The role will involve devising and providing exercise programmes for patients with Cystic Fibrosis and other chronic respiratory diseases in a variety of settings including inpatients, outpatients, community and virtual work.
The successful candidate will become part of a fantastic MDT where you will gain a wider understanding of different professions and develop close working relationships. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for exercise intervention and ensuring the highest quality patient care. This post would be ideal for somebody with previous experience of providing exercise within a health or fitness setting.
You will also need to be able to drive and have access to a car for community visits.
The successful applicant will work alongside the physiotherapists and fellow band 3 physiotherapy assistant who work within our Cystic Fibrosis unit.
You will be involved in assessing exercise tolerance, devising and carrying out exercise programmes for patients across inpatient, outpatient, community and virtual settings.
Within the inpatient setting you will be involved in providing acute rehabilitation, assessing for walking aids and discharge. You will be responsible for your own caseload and diary management working both individually and alongside other members of the therapy and multidisciplinary team. You will need to be able to work independently and proactively with support from the therapy team.
You will be expected to supervise and support the band 3 physiotherapy assistant. You will participate in our in-service training programme.
As well as clinical work, you will be assist with administrative duties required for ensuring the smooth running of the CF unit. Duties include, but are not limited to stocktaking, equipment ordering, printing and photocopying. Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details.
The successful candidate will have previously worked in a care environment or within an exercise setting. You will be familiar with providing exercise programmes and working with a wide range of equipment to promote fitness and rehabilitation. You will possess excellent communication skills to motivate and encourage patients to participate in exercise and rehabilitation, and to develop and promote effective professional working relationships with other disciplines and members of the team.
You will be organised and capable of maintaining accurate records (patient records, stock and audit data). You will be motivated, self-directed and enjoy working as part of a supportive team.
