Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a flexible and motivated individual to join the Phlebotomy Service working as a Phlebotomist.

This is a part-time substantive post of 25 hours per week.

You will be expected to be available for work between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm 7 days a week.

Must have a clean UK driving licence and access to a car

Royal Derby Hospital – Clinic and Wards

Florence Nightingale Hospital – Clinic and Wards

Community locations - Coleman Health Centre, Babington Hospital, Ilkeston Hospital, Ripley Hospital, Old Heanor Fire Station, St Oswalds Hospital, Long Eaton Health Centre.

This is a 7 day service and the expectation is that once trained you would work on the wards at Royal Derby Hospital every other weekend until 12 noon.

You must be a car user and have business insurance as you will be required to drive throughout Derbyshire, please ensure that you mark on your application that you have got a Full  UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle. Failure to do so will result in your application being rejected

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a large team taking blood samples at varying locations in Derbyshire. You will work on your own initiative organising your daily workload to achieve departmental test turnaround standards, responding to situations that could affect the quality and timeliness of test results and their reporting. You will assist senior staff with audits and data collection and will ensure the most cost-effective use of equipment and assist with stock control.

You should have a flexible approach to working and possess excellent communication skills being able to respond to enquiries from users and patients whilst maintaining confidentiality, this is a fast-paced and demanding role. It is essential that you have a caring and empathetic nature and have clear legible handwriting. You should also have basic IT skills.

Demonstrable experience of working in a care environment or customer service role would also be preferable.
