The Role
To undertake pharmaceutical technical tasks within a designated area, on a rotational basis, using Standard Operating Procedures laid down by the relevant Senior Pharmacy Technician to maintain a high quality pharmaceutical service to NHS Lanarkshire hospitals.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
This post is fixed in Aseptic Services. Part time hours may be considered.
In this key role, you will:
- Dispense prescriptions, including in-patient, out-patient, controlled drug, clinical trials and clozapine prescription in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures as directed by the Senior Pharmacy Technician.
- Carry out final accuracy checks on prescriptions dispensed by others.
- Deputise in the absence of the Senior Pharmacy Technician
- Answer telephone and face to face enquiries of a technical nature from a wide range of staff groups and patients either in the pharmacy or on the ward and refer appropriate queries to the relevant member of the pharmacy team when necessary.
What You'll Bring:
Education:
- Diploma/SQA National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent to enable registration as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Professional:
- Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Other Knowledge:
- Undertake revalidation required by General Pharmaceutical Council and maintain a portfolio of personal and professional development.
- A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
