Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a band 4/5 Aseptic Services Pharmacy Technician depending on experience.

This is a great opportunity to develop your pharmacy career and make a real difference to the lives of those who use our service.

Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to delivering the best quality and safest care to our local communities and need dedicated and skilled people to help us achieve this.

Your time will be spent in the aseptic unit delivering a comprehensive service for our Trust cancer patients.

As a candidate you may be just qualified or an already established technician with aseptic experience. You will have a genuine passion for patient care. You will be committed and dedicated, be open to working flexibly and have a desire to work as part of a friendly and supportive team in a fast-paced environment.

This post will support your career development. If not already gained, candidates will be given the opportunity to take the (ACT) Accredited Checking Technician course, Medicines reconciliation course including POD and supply,  the (PIPC) Pre and In-process checking course and the (PAAP) Product Approval Accreditation Programme.

If newly qualified with no aseptic experience all aspects of training will be given in-house to develop you into this role.

If you are appointed at a Band 4, this will be a progression role moving to Band 5 once competencies have been met.

Main duties of the job

Your time will be spent with the rest of the production team to deliver the preparation of chemotherapy and monoclonal therapy for the Trusts cancer service. All treatments are aseptically prepared in isolators using aseptic technique and Good Manufacturing Practice

Depending on your experience you will be responsible for tray set up or checking, drawing up aseptic items, in-process volume checks, work sheet and label production or checking.

All supportive oral medication will also be supplied by yourself either as a dispenser or as an ACT checker.

You will also use your dispensing skills to support the dispensary and ward distribution at weekends when rostered to do so.
