We are a large and very busy department with over 180 members of staff including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants and admin and clerical staff.  There are many varied roles and we all work as a team to provide the different functions and services whilst maintaining a high level of patient care.

To support an expansion of chemotherapy services at the NNUH we have received new funding for our Aseptics Unit to enable us to increase capacity.

Pharmacy Technicians and Science Manufacturing technicians are vital members of the pharmacy aseptic team who work closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants and with other staff within the Pharmacy and Trust.

Main duties of the job

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Aseptic Services Technician to join our large and busy aseptics team. You will either already be registered with the GPhC or the Science Council or be recently qualified/close to qualifying and preparing to register. Please note: if you are close to qualifying as a Pharmacy Technician, you will be required to have completed 2 years’ work experience with your current employer and gain registration with the GPhC before you can start work with us in this post.

The main aspects of this role are: •    Performing pre-manufacture checks on items waiting to be prepared •    Generation of worksheets •    Aseptic manufacture of products •    Transfer decontamination and cleaning •    Training of new staff in the unit

You should be dedicated, flexible and able to work in a high pressured, busy and demanding working environment. You will need to be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in developing your skills and knowledge. You will be expected to use a number of computer-based systems and, therefore, will have good IT skills.

The hours of work are 28.5 hours per week to be worked Monday to Friday with a current requirement to work one weekend day every 10 weeks in Dispensary and to cover 3 bank holidays annually in the Aseptic Services Unit.  All rotas are subject to review at any time.
