Job overview

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced technician in Aseptic Services.  The successful applicant will become part of a busy team working within a licensed aseptic unit offering a high-quality service to both internal and external customers. The unit has facilities for providing cytotoxic chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and gene therapy.

As the applicant will be responsible for the aseptic manufacture of pharmaceuticals and workload within the aseptic suite they should be organised and able to prioritise work effectively.  Accuracy, attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential requirements for this post. Training skills are desirable.

There is a structured training programme within aseptic services where you are encouraged to develop to your full potential.

All applicants for the post are required to have experience of aseptic dispensing and preparation either within the hospital setting or industry.

Main duties of the job

Prepare a wide range of aseptically prepared products for use within the Trust and by external customers. The department has an annual workload of approximately 50,000 items. •    Undertake effective disinfection of the unit and products to ensure a sterile environment for product preparation. •    Take microbiological samples to demonstrate effective environmental control. •    Partake in the preparation of drugs for up to 40 on-going clinical trials.  •    Perform pre and in-process production checks. •    The post holder is guided by departmental procedures, good manufacturing practice and hospital policies.
