The role of Perinatal Peer Support Worker has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of Perinatal mental health and have utilised perinatal mental health services. Through sharing their own experiences, the Peer Support Worker will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, they will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of personally valued roles and connection to local communities. The Perinatal peer support worker will work part of a multidisciplinary team within the 0-5 health visiting service, collaborating with health visitors, Early parent infant emotional well-being practitioners, nursery nurses and health promotion practitioners.
To work as an integral and highly valued member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in facilitating and leading patient-centred activities which inspire hope, control and opportunity for service users. To support individuals in identifying personal recovery goals to improve their quality of life and to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead.
