Job overview

Are you passionate about providing compassionate care and making a difference in patients' lives?

We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Patient Services Assistants (PSA) on our new Enhanced Care unit at Scarborough Hospital.

As a PSA, you will be an integral member of our ward team, working closely with nursing staff to ensure high standards of patient-centred care. Your role will involve a variety of non-nursing duties, from assisting with food service to stocking up and ensuring that medical equipment is clean. You will be guided by Trust policies and procedures, and your compassionate approach will help meet patients' needs.

If you are ready to take on a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference, we would love to hear from you!

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and Behaviour: Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions with patients, relatives, and visitors. Act as an ambassador for the Trust, promoting a positive image and maintaining public confidence.
  • Cleaning: Assist with ward cleaning schedules, sanitise beds and chairs, manage waste disposal, and restock supplies.
  • Food Service: Prepare and serve snacks and beverages, assist patients with menus, and support nutritional needs.
  • Portering Service: Transport patients, medical notes, and equipment safely within the hospital.
  • Front Desk: Handle face-to-face and telephone enquiries, direct visitors, and support volunteers.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards, and report any incidents or accidents.
