Job summary

Main duties of the job

A Patient Flow Assistant plays a vital part in ensuring that patients move safely, efficiently, and smoothly through the hospital.

The role supports the Clinical Site Management and operational teams to maintain effective patient flow, helping ensure that every patient is placed in the right bed at the right time and receives safe, high quality care.

The ideal person will bring -

Strong organisational and coordination skills supporting bed allocation, patient transfers, and the creation of capacity where needed, similar to the responsibilities of Patient Flow Coordinators who contribute to planning, admissions and patient movement.

Excellent communication confidently liaising with wards, Clinical Site Managers, Integrated Discharge Teams and other colleagues to maintain safe flow and escalate issues promptly.

Calmness under pressure the hospital environment is fast paced and requires someone who can prioritise, problem solve and support flow during busy and challenging periods

A team focused mindset working collaboratively across care groups to facilitate smooth admissions, transfers, and discharges in line with Trust priorities and pathways.
