Job overview

We are looking for two flexible, enthusiastic candidates to join our Admin and Clerical, Reception & Patient Booking team. Based in the Neuroradiology department, located at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (part of the UCLH NHS Foundation Trust), the department is a specialist centre providing x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and interventional radiology services to both local and national patients. The ideal candidates will be approachable, organised, and willing to provide a high standard of service all patients and service users. The department operates across 7 days of the week (08:00 to 20.00 weekdays & 09:00 to 17:00 weekends) The successful candidates will be required to work across our full operational hours which includes evenings and weekends. (according to the staffing rota) Both positions are a 12 month fixed term contact

Main duties of the job

This role involves meeting and greeting patients at reception upon arrival to the department, data entry into the Trust’s EHRS system, booking and rescheduling radiology appointments, communicating with patients by phone and email, responding to queries through a dedicated department mailbox, managing waiting lists and appointment work-queues, using the Trust’s computerised systems, liaising with clinical staff, patients and all other internal and external stakeholders. Ideal candidates for this position will possess a blend of strong administrative and interpersonal skills. Key qualities include: Essential Qualities and Skills: •    Exceptional Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly, compassionately, and effectively, both verbally and in writing, is vital for interacting with diverse stakeholders, including anxious patients, clinical staff, and external parties. •    Empathy and Patience: Candidates must be understanding, sensitive, and able to respond to patients' needs with empathy, especially during stressful or difficult situations. •    Strong Organisational and Time Management Skills: The role is fast-paced and requires the ability to multitask, prioritise a varied workload, and manage appointments and records efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
