The Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unit is looking for a parent infant therapist to join our team. This role involves providing specialist parent infant interventions to mother and babies on the ward, working alongside and supporting the nursery nurse team, and offering reflective spaces to the wider clinical team, to help ‘hold the baby in mind’. The Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unit is a specialist 8 bed in-patient ward, which cares for women in the last trimester of pregnancy or within baby’s first year of life, who are experiencing serious mental illness. We are one of three regional units in the East of England; the ward opened in 2019 and has received accreditation status from the Royal College of Psychiatry. It has a rich multi-disciplinary team and prides itself on its high-quality clinical care. This is a great opportunity to join our team in this important role.
The post holder would offer therapeutic interventions to mothers and babies, drawing on evidence-based interventions such as video interactive guidance, circle of security, mentalization work and brief psychodynamic interventions. Specialist clinical supervision will be provided. You would be part of a wider therapies team, which includes a clinical psychologist, assistant psychologist, occupational therapist and lead nursery nurse. The post holder would be asked to contribute to multi-disciplinary discussions and ward rounds and to offer reflective spaces to staff.
