Job overview

North Northants Family Hubs has commissioned NHFT's Best Start in Life Service Nurturing Families Pathway to put in place a new programme of support for families to promote Parent-Infant relationships during pregnancy and the first two years of life.

This new programme will include a particular focus on supporting Fathers, Co-Parents and Father-figures to form strong, nurturing attachments with their infants.

Based on the ethos and principles of our existing Nurturing Families Pathway programmes: Family Nurse Partnership, Family Steps and Tiny Steps, the Parent and Infant Relationship Service will be strengths based, working with parent's and those in a parenting role to achieve their own aspirations and goals in their relationship with their baby.

The programme will include 1:1 and group based interventions to support families to achieve the changes they aim for.

You will be supported  by regular and robust clinical supervision; case discussion; team learning and skills development sessions.

Main duties of the job

This clinical role will work directly with parents to support them in building strong, nurturing, responsive and attuned relationships with their babies. You will have a strengths based approach and be adept at identifying the features of nurturing communication in the parent-infant dyad so that you can reflect these back and promote parental self-efficacy and confidence.

You will have the knowledge and skills to work with parents and infants to promote parent and infant mental health; support responsive communication; promote parent and infant attachment and confidently amplify the infants voice and support parents to recognise and respond to infant cues.

You will be flexible, approachable, empathetic and a confident communicator.

You will have good knowledge of attachment theory; child development; infant communication; adult and infant mental health and experience in identifying the features of warm, responsive and attuned parenting.

You will be committed to agenda matching with clients and taking a family centred approach.

You will be open to new learning and reflective practice.
