Job overview

Based primarily at Harefield Hospital, the post holder will play a key role in the provision of the Trust-wide Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). They will contribute to an efficient, compassionate, professional, and comprehensive service for patients, relatives, carers and staff.

The post holder will also work to ensure that the processes following the death of a patient are completed respectfully, correctly and in a timely manner. This will involve acting as a point of contact and source of advice for relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals, coroner and registration services and providing support to the Medical Examiner Officers. The post holder will also provide administrative support for the recruitment and support of volunteers.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this post are to:

  • provide administrative support for the PALS, bereavement, and voluntary service;
  • be a first point of contact for those with concerns or enquiries about the hospital;
  • To assist with the recruitment process and support of volunteers.

The post will be based mainly at Harefield Hospital, there may be a requirement for occasional cross-site working.

The main responsibilities are:

  • To be a helpful point of contact for staff and patients to address their concerns
  • Meet bereaved relatives and ensure that they understand how to register a death.
  • Liaise with Funeral Directors to facilitate timely transfers of deceased patients.
  • Assist with recruitment process of volunteers including responding to new and existing volunteer enquiries.
