Main duties of the job

Southampton Children's Hospital Outpatient Department currently has a band 5 vacancy for 37.5 hours a week on a nine month contract.

The role will require you to support the band 7 department manager in the daily running of the department, ensuring clinics are staffed appropriately and managed in accordance to the speciality clinic.  You will be required to liaise with the multidisciplinary teams, families and carers ensuring queries and complaints are dealt with effectively.

The Children's Outpatients Department sees over 80,000 children a year across all specialities with specialist clinics for those suffering from Asthma, Allergies, Skin Problems and Diabetes.  The department runs a dedicated venepuncture service and supports a preadmission service ensuring all preop tests, observations and paperwork are completed.

Opening hours are 0800-1800 Monday to Friday.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will join a team who are motivated and passionate about delivering high quality care to our patients. You will work alongside our multi-disciplinary team to ensure treatment is given in line with Trust protocols. Giving and receiving regular reports on the progress of patients, immediately acting on any changes in the patients’ condition, and reporting them to the relevant health care professional.

In this role you will also in conjunction with fellow staff nurses you will provide supervision to members of the team and participating in both formal and informal teaching.
