Fellows will be based mainly at Sheffield Children’s, with some outreach work.

Applicants should have completed Higher Surgical Training and hold a CCT (or equivalent) by the start date. Flexible working options are available.

Main duties of the job

At Sheffield Children's Hospital, you'll join a nationally recognised centre of excellence in paediatric orthopaedics and trauma. As a fellow, you'll play an important role in a busy, and supportive team, delivering high-quality care across multiple elective and emergency paediatric orthopaedic conditions.

Your clinical work will span both trauma and elective services. You'll be involved in outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and theatre sessions—gaining hands-on experience managing complex fractures, deformity correction, and limb reconstruction. You'll also take part in the acute and late-phase management of trauma, with exposure to advanced techniques including flexible nailing, circular and monolateral frames, lengthening nails, and internal fixation.

This fellowship offers structured training in important areas such as developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) with ultrasound screening, Ponseti management of clubfoot, and the treatment of neuromuscular disorders supported by gait analysis. You'll also gain experience using growing rods for osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), and work with our specialist teams in adolescent and young adult hip preservation and paediatric knee surgery.

Please note that Sheffield Children's uplift pay to meet the Real Living Wage, which is £12.60 per hour.
