Job overview

To competently undertake radiographic techniques. To plan and prioritise own workload.  To act in an advisory capacity when supervising other staff providing high quality, responsive diagnostic imaging as part of a team of staff at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust as a Diagnostic Paediatric Lead Radiographer.  To work in accordance with the corporate objectives whilst maintaining high standards of patient care.

You will support all grades of staff including Student Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and Apprentice Radiographers. It is essential to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting to ensure the best outcome for our patients.

The role is varied and rewarding, you will  work in a range of clinical settings. You will support outpatient clinics,  theatres, emergency and Inpatient Departments. You will take the lead on forensic studies and support paediatric  fluoroscopy lists. You will regularly attend MDT's and contribute to Paediatric newsletters and CPD training/ New starter talks for the team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Paediatric Lead Radiographer at The University Hospital of North Midlands, Royal Stoke Site. You would join a small team of Paediatric Lead Radiographers that focus on paediatrics within the General X-ray modality. You would still X-ray adults as part of this role..

Successful post holders would need to be flexible to meet the demands of the 24/7 service but will have a reduced commitment to out of hours. Please note that SPA skeletal surveys, coroner’s cases and forensic Radiography are an essential part of this role. Full training will be given and you will have protected time to attend MDT’s and work on projects relevant to your role.

The directorate has an Advanced Practitioners in Paediatrics who will offer guidance and support in your role at Royal Stoke

Do you have?

  • A keen interest in Paediatric services/ general Radiography services
  • A BSc Hons Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent and HCPC registration.
  • Over 12 months (recent) post qualification experience, working in a general x-ray team.
  • Skills developed from working in an emergency X-ray department, theatres, undertaking portable x-rays and departmental imaging for In-patients and out-patients.
  • Experience of using DR technology.
