Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow in Paediatric Infectious Diseases/Immunology and Paediatric Intensive Care to commence in February 2025. The posts is based at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, at Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will gain experience in paediatric clinical trials and research studies by supporting the existing portfolio of Clinical Research Projects and also to increase the clinical trial capacity of the PIID Service at our centre. The post holder will be recruiting all paediatric eligible patients into paediatric infection and immunology studies, contribute to national and international research in this area, contribute to the management of PIMS-TS patients (clinics) and liaising with Clinical researchers at GSTT NIHR Biomedical Central as well as at King’s College London. The post holder will also contribute towards the inpatient and outpatient PIID clinical work.
Previous paediatric experience is essential; previous research experience is not essential but desirable. Good Clinical Practice training is essential for this post.
The successful applicant will join a team of seven consultants (four WTE), two paediatic infectious diseases clinical fellows and three clinical nurse specialists) working closely with laboratory research colleagues in delivering a highly responsive ward-based infection consult and clinical advice service.
The clinical PIID team deliver PIID inpatient consults, paediatric OPAT (outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy), infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, acute/complex infection, HIV, TB, congenital infection and primary/secondary immunodeficiency clinics.
The post-holder will be expected to help keep the Evelina London at the forefront of clinical, academic and research excellence, and to participate in the teaching programs of the departments.
You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a License to Practice, or be at least eligible for registration (overseas candidates).
The post holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.
