Main duties of the job
St George’s Hospital provides the in-patient service for all Specialist Paediatric Surgery, including Neonatal surgery in South West London. The present Consultants have developed strong sub- specialist interests in urology, including a neuropathic service, gastroenterology, thoracic, anorectal disorders and oncology. There is an extensive Outreach service to all District General Hospitals within South West London as well as within Surrey and a close association with the Royal Marsden Hospital.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- The successful applicant will be expected to carry out all duties of a Paediatric Surgery Specialist Registrar, participating in a 1 in 8 compliant on-call rota and the supporting the provision of the outreach service
- There are a number of academic meetings in the department. These meetings frequently involve members of other disciplines. There are also separate meetings run by the neonatal, infectious diseases, community and neurology teams.
- There is a regular programme of audit meetings. There are very active programmes of clinic and research meetings in other departments throughout the medical school. All staff are invited to attend.
- To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirement of the Health and Safety Regulations.
- To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments.
