Job overview

The Trauma and Elective Physio Orthopaedic Team are looking to recruit a band 2 therapy assistant to join our enthusiastic team.

The therapy assistant’s role is to support qualified therapists in delivering treatment for trauma and elective surgical patients on the orthopaedic wards at Warrington Hospital and the Captain Sir Tom Moore (CSTM) Site at Halton.

You must have a flexible caring approach, be able to work well in a team but also have responsibility for your own caseload.  You will provide an holistic approach to patients, without direct supervision,  but accountable to the responsible therapist.

Good communication is essential with the ability to teach exercises and mobility with the patient, alongside following consultant guidelines.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who would like to experience working with patients in a fast paced, health care setting.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a large multidisciplinary team, including Drs, Nurses, Orthopaedic consultants, Occupational therapists and the discharge planning team, to help assist in the care of patients within the trauma and Elective Orthopaedic ward.

Essential skills such as good verbal and written language and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required.  Alongside supporting patients in clinical areas, the job will entail none clinical management and administration tasks, as well as participating in service improvement and development initiatives.  The team delivers a 7 day working pattern, with a rota system to cover weekends.

As a department we offer ongoing clinical supervision and training to develop your knowledge and skills within this area of work.
