The QVH is a well recognised regional maxillofacial unit, operating on a "hub & spoke" basis to provide services for a significant proportion of the South East.

The successful applicant will be exposed to elective and emergency oral and maxillofacial surgery patients and will gain experience in how to approach clinical situations starting from the initial consultation, making the diagnosis, to clerking and preparing the patients for theatre, post-operative management and short, medium and long term follow-up in outpatient clinics.

The role will follow the existing training pattern in Oncology and Deformity and trauma will be expected to attend theatre, Oncology MDT’s and the Consultants’ clinics for both Maxillofacial & Urgent Cancer referrals as well as the clinic patients

If the successful candidate has sufficient experience they will be expected to contribute to teaching programme for the junior staff and participate in the Audit and M&M meetings.

Main duties of the job

Duties will also include general ward care, upkeep of medical records and involvement in clinical audit.   The duties will be varied depending upon the exigencies of the service.  Opportunities for research are available and successful candidates will be encouraged to participate.

The current rota commitment is 1:6 on a non-resident on call shift pattern for weekday which includes for prospective cover for colleagues study/annual leave and is part of a tiered rota pattern.
