An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Optometrist to join our Hospital Optometry team on full time, permanent basis.

This post will provide valuable experience within hospital optometry at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, working closely with our multidisciplinary team of Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, and Nursing staff.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated and want to develop their skills, knowledge and experience, whilst working as part of a friendly and diverse Ophthalmology/Optometric team.

This is an ideal role for Optometrists seeking to expand their clinical skills and experience within a hospital setting. The post is open to both newly qualified and experienced Optometrists. The post will initially cover core roles such as refraction, contact lens clinics and medical retina virtual reviewing clinics. There will be opportunities to develop into other roles with training, experience and service need.

Main duties of the job

  • To work in unison the Head of Optometry, and Optometric team in order to deliver a comprehensive range of core and sub-specialist clinical Optometric services to the highest standards of quality and care for patients of Hull University Teaching Hospitals and its’ outreach clinics, including other designated sites.

To work independently whilst participating in the delivery of a wide range of core and sub-specialist optometric services that meets the changing needs of the Optometry / Ophthalmology department and other external agencies.

  • The job holder may be required to examine patients within the Medical Retina, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Contact lens, Diabetic Eye Screening, Cataract, Corneal, Eye Casualty, Low Vision Aid, Prosthetic, Adult refraction or Glaucoma Service.
