The successful candidates will contribute towards the development of evidence based and recovery focused interventions to maximise an individual's independence and enable people to lead fulfilling lives. This vacancy is an exciting chance to join an experienced multidisciplinary team that prides itself on working collaboratively and holistically with service users who have severe and enduring mental illness. Whilst this role includes working with longer term service users and developing strong therapeutic relationships, the new aspect of the service includes the opportunity to do some care planned, short term, intervention focused rehabilitation work with service users who would benefit significantly from this enhanced intervention.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will work in collaboration with the team occupational therapist and wider  MDT to support individuals within a recovery focused model of care and there will be excellent opportunities for staff to utilise and develop their core occupational therapy skills.

You will work in partnership with a diverse team of clinicians and support staff including Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Senior Nurses, Social Workers, Peer Support Workers and our third sector partners. Evidence shows that people who are treated in community and in the least restrictive manner, have better outcomes. In this role you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, to help us provide this opportunity for the people of West Sussex in line with national agenda of The Getting It Right First Time a whole system approach to recovery from mental ill health, maximising an individual's quality of life and social inclusion.

Effective communication skills, a good clinical knowledge base, and a commitment to caring for patients in the community must be demonstrated. You must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. This is a full time position but we are open to discussing flexible working requirements.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will work with a small caseload of service users with severe and enduring psychosis both in the long term pathway and short term pathway, both with a focus on rehabilitation. You will be provided with guidance and training in ways of working with the service users we support and will be encouraged to develop your own knowledge and skills in providing occupational therapy interventions.
