Job overview

This innovative role places a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Redbridge Home Treatment Team, providing rapid assessment, expert therapeutic interventions and shift coordination within a dynamic mental health crisis team. The post holder will apply an occupational and practical approach to assess and support individuals presenting with acute mental health crises. By embedding the unique perspective of occupational therapy, the post holder will contribute to fostering a recovery-oriented and therapeutic culture within the team.  The  OT will work in collaboration with MDT and supervise teams STR workers and facilitate some group work/activities for service users and carers.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high quality Occupational Therapy clinical expertise and service.
  • Provide leadership and shift coordination for the RHTT.
  • Responsible for the delivery a range of evidence-based interventions which promote recovery, social inclusion and normalisation for service users.
  • oversee and lead on the provision of therapeutic interventions, including de-escalation strategies and emotional support, to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.
  • Manage challenging clinical situations and plan interventions whilst ensuring regular evaluation of the service users care plan.
  • Critically evaluate effectiveness of therapy interventions, in collaboration with service users, carers and other professionals.
  • Provide specialist clinical advice and contribute to clinical information on service users’ progress by attending meetings and ward rounds.
  • Work in partnership with a range of other services to provide support and treatment to service users to facilitate the safe management of their needs.
  • Take responsibility for an evidence-based clinical audit.
  • Ensure that the RHTT team is able to offer practical assistance to address factors contributing to crisis, such as housing, finances, or social support needs.
  • Conduct ADL/functional assessment and support service user with adaptions of their living environment if needed. Support with social inclusion, and identify barriers to social inclusion.
