There is a fantastic opportunity for an HCPC registered individual to join the Sandford Ward in Oxford as an Occupational Therapist, working with male adults of the age of 65 and over who are experiencing mental health challenges.

Successful candidates must be confident in their assessment and clinical reasoning skills, be able to manage their time effectively and be a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Excellent communication skills are required and the ability to be adaptable, flexible and creative when working with people with varying levels of need.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • To carry out the initial screening and assessment of all service users admitted to the ward and to undertake intensive short-term treatment where appropriate.
  • To manage a caseload of clients with complex OT needs, using evidence based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in the ward and community settings and on home visits.
  • To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating treatment plans, transferring service users to the AMHT / CMHT, other teams within the Trust, or third sector organisations when appropriate
