Job overview

We are looking to recruit two dynamic, experienced and self-motivated nurses or AHPs into this exciting new Nutrition Practitioner role. We have funding for 1.6wte positions to work across our two acute hospitals: Conquest and EDGH.  You will work with adult inpatients, the acute medical, surgical and gastro teams and the dietitians to support delivery of excellent nutritional care, primarily with those patients requiring artificial nutrition support.

Main duties of the job

You will work as an integral member of multi-disciplinary teams and the Nutrition & Dietetic service, acting as an expert in the management of complex patients requiring artificial nutrition support and providing advice, support and training to staff, in line with evidence based practise.

The role of Nutrition Practitioner involves working as an expert clinical practitioner alongside the Nutrition and Dietetic team supporting the safe and effective provision of nutrition interventions within the Trust.

The post holder will provide nutrition leadership and professional advice to the Trust and support the development and implementation of the Trust Nutrition Strategy.

To carry out scoping and impact assessment to demonstrate the clinical benefits, safety improvements and efficiencies associated with having a Nutrition Practitioner in post.

The Nutrition Practitioner will work in close partnership with the Head of Dietetics, Dietetic Advanced Practitioners, dietitians, nurses, members of the Nutrition and Hydration steering group and multi-disciplinary clinical leads, General Practitioners and education colleagues to design and implement innovative efficient and accessible models of care that promote equity of access across a wide demographic of patients.
